Expert Blog - Favourite Outdoor Location

Do you want to go camping this year but you’re not sure what campsite to pick? We asked our amazing Ambassadors to tell us their favourite outdoor locations they love to visit and there’s some pretty good recommendations that are sure to catch your eye.

Pencarnan Farm

Ambassador, Natalie Ray recommends Pencarnan Farm in Pembrokeshire as her favourite campsite to visit. The perks are that “it’s dog friendly, right next to the beach if you love a seaside adventure and swimming is actively encouraged”. This campsite is often not that busy which makes it a really lovely little getaway if you’re looking for some peace, quiet and great views. One of Natalie’s favourite elements of the campsite is that the there’s often a pizza oven serving dinner!

Cae Du Farm

Shell from camping with Style recommends Cae Du Farm campsite in Wales as her favourite campsite to visit! “It’s a great place to go dolphin watching as it sits close to the edge of a cliff with stunning views overlooking Cardigan Bay”. The campsite allows campfires, provides direct access to the beach and every pitch has a fantastic sea view so everyone can enjoy what the campsite has to offer!

Boe Rigg Campsite in Northumberland

Nyomi Winter loves to visit the Boe Rigg campsite in Northumberland. Nyomi says that although “it may seem to be a basic campsite, it has a great pub/restaurant on site as well as a stream, a pond with ducks and sheep making it a perfect countryside location”. Whilst the campsite has many positives, you’re also right on the doorstep of Kielder Forest and water making it great for days out! Nyomi has had many enjoyable camping trips at this campsite and can’t recommend it enough!

By the Sea

Claire from Tin Box Traveller says that her family love paddleboarding, so anywhere next to the sea is heaven. Claire and her family’s favourite locations for hitting the beach are in the South West of England. “South Devon is brilliant for sheltered beaches with interesting coves to explore. North Cornwall is best for body boarding and the sandy Dorset coastline is great for beach days and water sports”. They don’t tend to stay at the same campsites again and again, but can recommend South Lychett Manor in Dorset and Haven Perran Sands in Cornwall. Both are very family-friendly with playgrounds and great shower blocks for vanners like us who don’t have our own bathroom.

Woodland

Lee Barton from Nearly Wild Camping loves to camp in or next to woodland. Lee loves how it “gives you a sense of being more remote where you can easily lose sight of the signs of humanity in a couple of acres of woodland”. Lee especially likes camping in woodland areas in the summer where the foliage is dense which means you’ll lose sight of pylons, street lights and vehicles!

Music Festivals

Caro Davis from the Twinkle Diaries says that her favourite outdoor location has got to be a music festival! Caro loves campsites but a festival site “has the added benefit of entertainment right on your doorstep”. Caro has been taking her eight year old twins to festivals since they were babies. “The feeling of being in a little metropolis, in a bubble, far away from general civilisation is amazing”. Caro loves the “slow pace of life and the connectivity; meeting like-minded people and watching her little boys enjoy absolute freedom in a safe and happy environment”.
