Rice Husk Tableware

All OLPRO Rice Husk Camping Tableware is made from rice husk (the little shell rice comes in). They are eco-friendly, biodegradable and rice husk does not contain any harmful substances at all.

Rice husk is an agricultural waste. Annually, the world's rice production is approximately 500 million tons. Of this, the ratio of rice husk to rice is approximately 1:4, which is equivalent to about 125 million tons of rice husks produced each year.

Through working with companies in both the US and Malaysia we have constructed Tableware products using Husk which means having created a great green product, which isn’t expensive at all and can also be used in the Microwave (no longer than 3 minutes).

The range consists of plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery and storage.

Husk can turn into compost in just 90 days compared to plastic which can take between 20 and 500 years.

Once the rice has been harvested we test the husk for any chemicals. All good Husk is turned into a raw material which at high temperatures is molded into OLPRO Husk Tableware.

All OLPRO Husk Tableware has been TUV tested in Germany and also tested to show contains no BPA. At OLPRO we design and manufacture all of our products to produce high quality camping and outdoor equipment.

The reason you get superior quality products from OLPRO for such great value is because we then sell direct to you. Although our products are also available through the largest retailers in the UK you can direct from us meaning you are buying from the manufacturer and meaning we can offer you great prices however you buy.

Great, uniquely designed products and great, great prices with superb service.

Melamine & Husk Camping Tableware FAQs

What is husk?

Rice Husk is the protective shell which covers the rice grain whilst it is growing. What once was an agricultural by-product has now become a sustainable material used for fuel, building, and can be made into an alternative to plastics, perfect for your camping tableware.

What are the advantages of husk in camping tableware?

Rice husk is perfect for use for our range of camping drinkware and tableware due to its durability, insulating properties and high density which prevents the growth of bacteria or mould. It is also fully biodegradable and can be composted, providing environmentally friendly camping tableware.

What is melamine?

Melamine is a reusable, lightweight and durable material, which makes it perfect for your camping or caravanning trip. It is a great alternative to heavy and brittle dish products and utensils such as ceramic, glass or enamel.

What is the difference between melamine and husk for camping tableware?

Both materials are extremely durable and lightweight, thus suitable for any kind of outdoor camping trip. The biggest difference between them is the way the materials are made: rice husk is a natural component while melamine is synthetic. Both are reusable so their environmental impact in time is equal. You might want to choose one of them for your camping tableware based on the design, colour and feel of the material.
